How to use a Reciprocating Saw?
Before you can start sawing with a Reciprocating Saw, you have to install a saw blade. You choose a saw blade, which suits the material you are going to saw. Because you can use the Reciprocating Saw for a lot of different materials, it is necessary that you can easily change the saw blade. To change the saw blade of the Batavia Reciprocating Saw, you do not need additional tools. After you installed the saw blade, you have to adjust the speed. Different materials have different characteristics, which demand a different speed for cutting it. For example, you can cut wood on a high speed, but cutting stainless steel is easier with a lower stroke rate.  The Batavia cordless Reciprocating Saw has an adjustable stroke rate. Before you start to saw your material, you have to make sure you do not hit anything except your workpiece. The saw blade of the Reciprocating Saw will move back and forward, so it might hit something, if it is too close. After you have done all of this, you can start sawing. Make sure you press the shoe of the cordless Reciprocating Saw against your workpiece. This way you experience less vibration.

Why do you need a Reciprocating Saw?
The first Reciprocating Saw was designed to replace a normal hand saw. The difference between a cordless Reciprocating Saw and a hand saw, is that a Reciprocating Saw has a short and fast stroke and a hand saw has a long and slow stroke. However, nowadays, a cordless Reciprocating Saw, is much more than just the replacement of a normal hand saw. Now you can use this power tool for sawing wood, plastic, metal, and pipes, but you can also use it for demolition work.

How does a Reciprocating Saw work?
Within the Reciprocating Saw, the motor, piston, and clamp provides the stroke rate of the sawblade. When the motor starts, the piston will move up and down. While the piston moves up and down, it pushes the clamp. The saw blade is attached to this clamp. This way, the saw blade goes back and forth.
